Mrs. Alta Giltner

BATAVIA. – Mrs. Alta M. Giltner, 80, died at St. Joseph Hospital in Ottumwa Sunday at 3:50 p.m. She had been a patient at the hospital for five days.

She was born June 3, 1882, in Wapello County, the daughter of John W. and Nancy Stewart Creamer and had always lived in Wapello County within a few miles of where she was born. She attended Temple School as a young girl. She was a member of Batavia Methodist Church. Her marriage to Nort M. Giltner took place Feb. 25, 1903. He died in 1925.

She also was preceded in death by an infant son, a sister, a brother, and a son, Everett, who died April 15, 1962.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Grace Hood of Chicago; a son, Earl Giltner of Batavia; three grandsons, a granddaughter and two great-granddaughters.

The service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Batavia Methodist Church. The Rev. Dale Ellsworth, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Round Point Cemetery.

The casket will be taken from Campbell Funeral Home in Batavia to the church at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
