George Dieters, Veteran Farmer, Dies
George Dieters, 87, of 419 Glenwood avenue died at 5:40 a.m. today. He was born January 4, 1857 at Tell City, Indiana and settled on a farm south of Ottumwa 46 years ago. He is survived by six brothers, Joe, Lewis, Frank, Herman, Leo and Edward all of Ottumwa, three daughters, Mrs. Mary Courtney, Mrs. Clara Konrad and Miss Adeline Dieters of Ottumwa; two sisters, Mrs. Philip Werner and Mrs. John Beiver of Tell city; 21 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 8:20 Saturday morning at the Vaughan funeral home and at 9 o’clock at the St. Patrick’s Catholic church , where a requiem high mass will be celebrated by the Rev. T.C. Donohoe. Burial will be made in Calvary cemetery. Members of St. Patrick’s parish will meet at 8 p.m. Friday at the Vaughan funeral home to recite the rosary.
