Lancey Funeral Services Friday
Mrs. Ella Lancey, 45, registered nurse and assistant supervisor at Ottumwa hospital, died at 9:30 a.m. today at the hospital she was born September 30, 1898 near Chillicothe, the daughter of James and Esther Lancey. She had been employed at the Ottumwa hospital since 1938 and prior to that she was attached to two different hospitals in New Jersey. She took her nurse training at the old St. Joseph hospital here, graduating in 1924. Miss Lancey is survived by her other, four brothers, John H. Lancey, Charles E. Lancey, and Thomas J. Lancey of Ottumwa and Melvin Lancey of Chicago, two sisters, Miss Elvina P. Lancey and Miss Delores M. Lancey of Ottumwa, two nieces Shirley and Betty Jo Lancey, and a nephew Jimmy Arnold Lancey. Her father died in 1923. Miss Lancey’s home was at 248 East Pennsylvania avenue. The body is at the Lester Jay funeral home pending completion of arrangements.
Funeral services for Miss Ella Lancey, above who died Wednesday morning will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Lester Jay funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Harold Roberts, pastor of the First Christian church. Burial will be in Westview cemetery at Kirkville. Pallbearers will be Mary C. Lucas, Crystal Alter, Maxine Barcus, Ruth Pauline, Adeline Dieters, Ethel Prunty, Anna Cook and Margaret Snook
