Mrs. Emma Berry, 77, died at the Rest Haven home, 820 Pershing avenue, at 8:10 a.m. today. The daughter of Robert and Ruthinda Benson, she was born in Monroe county, Illinois, February 21, 1867. She had been a resident of Ottumwa for the past 53 years. Surviving are six daughters, three sons and 17 grandchildren, The daughters are Mrs. Birdie Croft, Chicago: Mrs. Millie Kendall and Mrs. Alice Millhouse both of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Mrs. Mamie Hurd, Mrs. Lillian Calvert and Mrs. Winifred Ruth Hastings, all of Ottumwa. The sons are Clyde Berry, Chicago, and Carl and Charles Berry, both of Ottumwa. Mrs. Berry was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie 12 years ago. A daughter, Emma Millhouse and an infant son also preceded her in death. The body was taken to the Johnson funeral chapel to await arrangements for the funeral.
The funeral of Mrs. Emma Berry who died Wednesday, will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Johnson’s chapel, the Rev. A.D. McClure in charge. Burial in Shaul cemetery. The casket will be taken to the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.F. Hasting, 1532 Mabel Street, at 5 p.m. Friday and returned to the chapel at noon Saturday.
