Mrs. Mary Jane Baer, 85, of 1105 East Division street, died at 11:55 a.m. Today at the home of her son, Ernest A. Baer of 415 Chester avenue. She had been a resident of Ottumwa for the past 35 years and was a member of the Willard Street Methodist church and of the Eastern Star chapter at Covina, California. She was born October 16, 1858, near Farmington, Tennessee, the daughter of James L. and Sarah Maxie Dysart. Her husband, Franklin Pierce Baer, preceded her in death on March 10, 1920, and she is survived by her son here and two daughters, Mrs. Ora Smith of Ottumwa and Mrs. Clara Leonard of Hermosa Beach, California. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. The body is at the Johnson funeral chapel pending completion of funeral arrangements. Funeral services for Mrs. Mary J. Baer, who died early Wednesday at 333 Appanoose street, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday from the Johnson funeral chapel in charge of the Rev. C.R. Reed with Mrs. C.C. McClure as soloist. Mrs. Baer had lived in California about 20 years before returning to Ottumwa in May 1941. Burial will be in the Ottumwa cemetery and the following will serve as pallbearers, Harry Evans, Harry Sutton, Henry Hervey, Lloyd Rime and Ralph T. McElroy.
