Elroy E. Parker, 20, a Navy aviation cadet in the last stages of his primary flight training, was killed in a plane accident shortly after 1 o’clock this morning. Parker whose home was in Hickman Mills, Missouri, was on a routine night training flight when the training ship crashed about one and a half miles south of the station. The cadet is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.R. Parker of Hickman Hills route 1. He enlisted in the Navy September 5, 1942, and transferred to the aviation cadet training program April 15, 1943, when he was sent to a flight preparatory school at Liberty, Missouri. Since then he attended another training school at Chadron, Nebraska and the Navy preflight school at Del Monte, California, beginning his primary flight at Hutchinson, Kansas, January 10, 1944. He was sent to the Ottumwa station February 29, when primary training was discontinued at Hutchinson. A board of qualified officers investigated the fatal accident.
