Mrs. Mary Catherine Stirling, 83, widow of William Stirling, died at 7:30 a.m. today in the St. Joseph hospital. Her home was at 244 West Woodland avenue. The daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth Sartor, she was born January 23, 1861, in Fulton, Missouri, Mr. Stirling died December 17, 1941. Survivors are a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Mock, of Portland, Oregon and the following nieces and nephews. Mrs. Verna McGraw, Misses Betty and Dorothy McGraw, all of Ottumwa; Dr. Elizabeth Kahler, Washington D.C. Gordon and Ruth Mock and Mrs. Myrtle Elizabeth Somerwell, all of Portland. Mrs. Stirling had been a member of the First Presbyterian church 67 years and had lived in Ottumwa since 1876. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Lester Jay funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Richard Paul Graebel D.D. Burial in Ottumwa cemetery. The casket will be closed at the beginning of the service.
