Miss Kate B. Smith, 80, former resident of the Ottumwa community, died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday at her home in Topeka, Kansas. She was born March 2, 1864, at a farm east of Ottumwa, and was the daughter of Willis F. and Minerva Smith. She left Ottumwa about 20 years ago to make home in Topeka. She is survived by one sister, Laura F. Johnson of Topeka, and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of the First Methodist church while in residence here. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Lester Jay funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Herbert A. Keck D.D. Burial will be made in the Ottumwa cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lawrence Harry, Tillman Harry, Raymond Harry, Glen Reeves, Erritt Boyer and Loran Leeling.
