Mrs. Fannie Bell Allen, 71, died at 3:45 a.m. today at her home 202 Myrtle street. She was born February 13, 1873 at Moberly, Missouri, the daughter of the Rev. Daniel A. and Ellen Brown, and had been a resident of Ottumwa for the past 28 years. She was a member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. church., She is survived by her husband, William Allen, one son, Cornett Allen, and a daughter, Mrs. Beulah Downey, both of Ottumwa, and one stepdaughter, Mrs. Juanita Kendrick of Des Moines. She is also survived by three grandchildren; Private William Downey, serving with the Marines in the South Pacific; Allen W. Downey and Claudette Allen, both of Ottumwa. The body is at the Johnson funeral chapel pending completion of funeral arrangements. Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie Bell Allen, wife of William Allen, 202 Myrtle street, who died at her home at 3:45 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Henry J. Parker, pastor of the Mt. Zion African M.E. Church will be in charge assisted by the Rev. William N. Shaw, pastor of the Second Baptist church. Burial will be in Ottumwa cemetery. Pallbearers will be C.T. Gooch, William Bailey, Virgil Thompson, James Black, George Jackson and Herbert Robinson.
