Mrs. Hettie Moffitt, 54, widow of Hugh Moffitt, died at 8 a.m. today in the St. Joseph hospital. Her home was at 1505 East Main street. The daughter of William and Catherine Morris, she was born March 18, 1892, in Spickard, Missouri. Survivors are three daughters and a son: Mrs. Don Schaub, Jenny Gale Moffitt and Jean Moffitt, all of Ottumwa, and a son William Moffitt with the Navy. Also, five sisters, Mrs. Hattie Propps, Newtown, Missouri, Mrs. Nora Monahan, Burlington, Mrs. Rosa Orr, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. John Morton, Brown, California, and Mrs. Cleo Barlow, Ottumwa and three brothers, Ora I. Morris, Trona, California, Arthur of Batavia, and Clifford of Churdan. Mrs. Moffitt was a member of the East End Presbyterian church. The body is at Lester Jay funeral home. Arrangements for services have not been completed. Funeral services for Mrs. Hettie Moffitt, who died Thursday, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in the East End Presbyterian church, the Rev. E.D. Byrd in charge. Burial in Ottumwa cemetery. The body will be taken from the Lester Jay funeral home to the church at 2 p.m. Saturday and the casket will be closed at the beginning of the service.
