Hedrick-Elmoth J. Sweatt, 70 died at 5:50 a.m. today at his home in Hedrick. The Sweatt’s moved to Hedrick from south of town about two weeks ago. He leaves his wife; seven daughters, Mrs. Atha Reighard of Pleasant Plain, Mrs. Grace Lewman of Munster, Indiana, Mrs. Nellie Whistler of Perris, California, Mrs. Bertha Carter of Ottumwa, Mrs. Zella Leisnefelt, of Calumet City, Illinois, Mrs. Pauline Whistler of San Diego, California, and Mrs. Mrs. Lela Bray of Portland, Oregon; four sons, Leonard at home, George O. and William of Habra, California, and Jessie of Inglewood, California, two sisters and two brothers. The body is at the Community funeral parlors in Ottumwa.
Funeral services for E.J. Sweatt, who died Thursday morning at his home in Hedrick, will be held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 at the Community funeral chapel in charge of A.O. Smith. Burial will be in Bladensburg cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wilbur Shields, Jim Sweatt, Raymond Sweatt, Eugene Shields, Jim Hodson and Virgil Carter.
