Man 74, Dies In Fall From Trailer
William I. Miller, 74 a former Ottumwan who made his home with Mrs. Lulu Laechel of Florida, died at 3:30 a.m. today at the St. Joseph hospital following injuries received yesterday in the fall from a coal trailer. Miller, who had made his home in Ottumwa until about two years ago, was a member and past master of Empire lodge No. 269, A.F. & A.M. He was born October 16, 1869, in Johnson country, the son of Jonas and Mary Miller. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Balance Mehlow, of McCallisburg, and one son, Glen Miller. He is also survived by two grandchildren and by the following brothers and sisters, Elmer Miller, Wellman; Mrs. Melissa Dunham, Colorado; Mrs. Barbara Bailey, Iowa City and Mrs. Belle Barger, Kalona.
Masonic services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday from the Lester Jay funeral home and from the Pleasantville church north of Wellman at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill cemetery. The body will be at the Lester Jay funeral home until time for the services.
