Abe Ashba, 64, retired machinist for the Burlington railroad, died at 2:35 a.m. today at his home 2217 East Main street. The son of Thomas and Jane Ashba, he was born February 16, 1879 at Russell. Besides his wife, the former Bessie McDonald, of Ottumwa, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Goltry, Russell, Mrs. Lena Corthon, Buena Vista, Colorado and several nieces and nephews. The body is at the Lester Jay funeral home pending completion of arrangements.
Funeral services for Abe Ashba, who died Tuesday morning at his home at 2217 East Main street, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Lester Jay funeral home. The Rev. Archie Beals of Russell will have charge of the services and burial will be in the Ottumwa cemetery. The body will be at the residence from 9 a.m. Thursday until noon. Pallbearers will be Byron Lawrence, Ellis Hammersly, Gay Fleming, Frank Etter, Clint Rhoades and Robert Fisher.
