Mrs. Nancy Frost, 91 Dies Here Friday
Mrs. Nancy A. Frost, 91, one of Ottumwa’s oldest residents died at 3:30 p.m. Friday at her home, 726 Wabash avenue. She had lived in Ottumwa for 53 years and had occupied the same home here for the past 35 years. She was born January 12, 1852 at Fairfield, the daughter of George and Permilla Gilbert, and was married August 1882, in Fairfield to James. M. Frost, who died in 1913. She was also preceded in death by one son, Thomas Frost, who died in 1921. She is survived by the following children; Mrs. Hazel Singleton, Muskegon, Michigan, Mrs. Leanna Mitchel, Indianapolis, Mrs. Helen Reeves, Mrs. Celia Brouhard, Lloyd Frost and H.C. Frost, all of Ottumwa. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and by 18 great grandchildren. Mrs. Frost was a member of the Finely Avenue Baptist church and of Enterprise Rebecca lodge, No. 132. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday from the Finley Avenue Baptist church in charge of the Rev. Thurman Bowen and the Rev. John Hastie. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery. Members of the Rebecca Lodge will hold services at the grave. The casket will remain at the Johnson chapel until noon Monday when it well be taken to the church and will be closed at the beginning of the service.
