F.W. Dimmitt Dies At 71: Born Here
Frank W. Dimmitt, 71, a lifelong resident of Ottumwa and the county died at 3 p.m. Saturday at the home of his daughter Mrs. Ardith Rudolph, 1212 Jay street. Mr. Dimmitt’s home was at 1211 George street. The son of Syrene and Hannah McClintock Dimmitt, he was born in Wapello county, March 19, 1872. He married Miss Mallye Jackson in Ottumwa in 1902, She survives, as does his daughter, Mrs. Rudolph and three sons. They are Wilbur Dimmitt of Waterloo; Arthur Dimmitt and Donald Dimmitt, both boatswain’s mates second class in the U.S. Navy. Eight grandchildren also survive, together with three brother and two sisters. Oliver Dimmitt, Ottumwa; Charles of Tigard, Oregon and Vern of Tacoma, Washington, Mrs. Ellen Phillips, Billings, Montana and Mrs. Grace Closson, Kansas City.
The casket was taken from the Johnson’s funeral chapel to Mrs. Rudolph’s home today, awaiting completion of arrangements for services.
Funeral services for Frank. Dimmitt, life-long resident of Ottumwa, who died here last Saturday will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Johnson funeral chapel, conducted by the Rev. J.R. Estes of the First Baptist church, Burial will be in the Ottumwa cemetery. The casket will be returned to the funeral chapel Wednesday noon. Pallbearers will be Carl Dimmitt, Roy Dimmitt, Bert Dimmitt, Elza Dimmitt, Justus Kitterman and Frank Utterback.
