William Brownlee, 74, died at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the home of his son, Hayes Brownlee, 631 West Pershing avenue. He was born February 28, 1869, at Delevan, Illinois, the son of Hayes and Elizabeth Brownlee, and had been a resident of Ottumwa for the past 31 years. He is survived by the following children; Mrs. Willa Miller, Mrs. Elizabeth Rubel, Hayes Brownlee and Hollis Brownlee, all of Ottumwa. He is also survived by five grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Albert Dains of Stockport, and a brother, Sam Brownlee of Keosauqua. He was preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Minnie Brownlee who died in 1936. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the Johnson funeral chapel in charge of the Rev. E.L. Frost, pastor of the Davis Street Christian church. Burial will be in Ottumwa cemetery. The casket will be taken to the home of his son at 631 West Pershing avenue at 65 p.m. today and will be returned to the chapel at noon Friday.
