George W. Holt, 77, former coal miner in Iowa and Illinois, died at 12:15 a.m. today at the home of his sister, Mrs. M. Taylor, 632 North Cooper avenue. He was born and reared in the Blakesburg area, later moving to Virden, Illinois. He moved to Ottumwa four years ago. He was the son of George and Hannah Graves Holt. Besides his sister, he is survived by two brothers, Harry Holt, Davenport, and John Holt, Peoria, Illinois. The body is at the Johnson funeral chapel awaiting completion of arrangements. Funeral services for George W. Holt, who died at the home of his sister, Mrs. M. Taylor, 632 North Cooper avenue, Thursday morning, will be held at Virden, Illinois, Sunday. The casket will be sent to Virden tonight.
