Thomas J. Lancey Dies In Nebraska
Thomas J. Lancey, 67, veteran Ottumwa businessman, died last Saturday night after suffering a stroke at the home of his son, Clyde M. Lancey, at Fremont, Nebraska. He was born in South Wales July 12, 1876, and lived in the Ottumwa area from 1883, until several months ago. He operated the Lancey Orange Crush Bottling Co. here for many years. Mr. Lancey was for many years a member of the Ottumwa Elks lodge, the O.B. Nelson post, American Legion, and the First Methodist church. Besides his son Clyde, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Alyce Johnson, Galesburg, Illinois, and Mrs. Frances Bishop, Des Moines; a son, John P. Lancey, New York City; a brother, David Lancey, Ottumwa, and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Ann Hawkins, Lucas, Mrs. Elizabeth Orr, Ottumwa, and Mrs. Margaret Forsberg, Moline, Illinois. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. in Wednesday at the First Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. H.A. Keck, D.D. There will be Elks services at the grave in Kirkville cemetery. The body will be taken from the Lester Jay funeral home from the Lester Jay funeral home to the S.S. Styre residence, 155 North Moore street tonight, and will remain here until Wednesday noon, when it will be removed in the church services. The caskets will be closed at the beginning of services.
