George W. Carder, 81, died at 9:45 a.m. today at his home 504 East Main street. He was born January 16, 1862, in Putnam county, Missouri, the son of Braxton and Anna Carder. Two sons and one daughter, preceded him in death, and he is survived by his wife Mrs. Francis Carder, and the following children; Mrs. Rinds Poney, Mrs. Leona Rix and James Carder, all of Ottumwa; Miss Nellie Carder, Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Edith Hope, Moline, and Larry Carder of Camp Bliss, Texas. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. The body is at the Johnson funeral chapel pending completion of funeral arrangements.
Funeral services for George W. Carder, who died at his home, 509 East Main street, Tuesday morning will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Church of the Open Bible with the Rev. L.E. Welshons conducting the services. The body will be taken to the church from the Johnson funeral home at 1 p.m. Friday and burial will be in the Shaul cemetery.
