George Eakins, 79, a resident of Ottumwa since he was 4 years old, died at 3:30 a.m. today at his home 318 South Davis street. He was born May 17, 1864, in Ohio and is survived by his wife, Mrs. Zilpha Eakins and the following children; Mrs. Ruby Louderback and Mrs. Edna Doud, both of Ottumwa; Mrs. Gertrude Swaim, Des Moines; Ernest Eakins and Marion Eakins both of Ottumwa; Omar Eakins and Howard Eakins both of Unionville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Lester Jay funeral home, and burial will be in the Wesley chapel cemetery.
