James V. Buchanan, 71, died at 5:20 p.m. Friday at his home, Ottumwa route 6. He was born April 1, 1872 in Marion county, Virginia, the son of David and Catherine Buchanan, and came to Wapello county in 1891, where he had lived since. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Stella Buchanan and two sons, Frank Buchanan of Ottumwa and Maurice Buchanan of Fremont, Nebraska. He is also survived by the following brothers, Sam Buchanan, Kewanee, Illinois, J.E. Buchanan, Packwood; W.T. Buchanan, Munterville; Mrs. James Speer, Glade Springs, Virginia and Mrs. Ella Davis, Norfolk, Virginia. The body is at the Johnson funeral chapel where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery.
