Mrs. Mary Burkman, 87, died at 5:30 a.m. today at her home, seven miles southwest of Ottumwa. She was born February 27, 1856, in Sweden and came to America when she was 25 years old, locating in Oskaloosa. She had lived in Wapello county since 1915. She is survived by the following children; Richard Burkman, Albia; Oscar Burkman at home; Henry Burkman, Bloomfield; Mrs. Ellen Foster, at home; Mrs. Agnes Johnson, Avery and Mrs. Ethel Overturf, Lovilla. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and was preceded in death by her husband, John Burkman who died July 20, 1935, and by three children. She was a member of the Lutheran church. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday from the Johnson funeral chapel in charge of the Rev. Malvin Lundeen, pastor of the First Lutheran church. Burial will be in the Cuba cemetery.
