Resident Of Ottumwa 43 Years Dies At 85
J.B. Wilford, 85, died at his home, 221 Ottumwa street, Thursday at 2:30 p.m. He was born in Rock Island county, Illinois, December 15, 1857. He was the oldest son of Shadrick and Ellen Wilford. He lived in Rock Island county until 1900 when he moved to Wapello county where he made his home until his death. He was married to Evaline Gipson, September 15, 1881. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Pearl Rooker and Mrs. Bertha Purdy of Hedrick and Mrs. Mabel Hawk of Denver, Colorado; three sons, Harry Purdy and Lawrence of East Moline, Illinois; 25 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, also three brothers. The body is at the Community funeral home. The funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday from the Baptist church with the Rev. J.R. Estes in charge. Burial will be in McCormick Cemetery.
