Young Woman, Hurt In A Fall, Is Dead
Mrs. Marjorie E. Simmons, 29, of 105 North Walnut avenue, who was taken to the Ottumwa hospital April 27 for treatment of a shoulder fracture sustained in a fall, died at 3:40 a.m. Sunday at the hospital. It is believed death resulted from a weakened heart. She was the daughter of Alexander and May Hawkins and was born in Davis county August 18, 1913. Except for the six years she lived in Chicago , she had been a resident of this area. Survivors include her husband, Henry Roscoe Simmons; two daughters, Aldonna and Alberts, both of Ottumwa; her mother, Mrs. May Hawkins, route 4; five sisters, Mrs. Malinda Swanson, El Paso, Illinois; Mrs. Susie Conner, Mrs. Lela Alderice, Mrs. Flossie Granneman and Mrs. Iola Clancey, all of Ottumwa, and two brothers, Warden and Harvey Hawkins, both of Ottumwa. She was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Hazel. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First Church of the Nazarene, Ellis avenue and Hancock street, conducted by the Rev. M.C. Campbell, the Rev. Martin Leigh and the Rev. W.A. Paul. Burial will be in Sherman chapel cemetery. The body his at the Johnson funeral chapel.
