Mrs. Winifred Brewer, 33, wife of Joseph F. Brewer of 322 Summit street, and graduate nurse, died suddenly at 6:15 a.m. today at her home. She was the daughter of A.R. and Caroline Swartz and was born in Ottumwa September 11, 1909. She was graduated from the Ottumwa high school in 1925, latter attending the University of Omaha. She was graduated in nursing at the St. Joseph hospital in 1934. Mrs. Brewer was a member of the First Congregational church and of the St. Joseph hospital alumnae. Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Russell Lee; a daughter, Carolyn Sue, a stepson Gene; a stepdaughter, Donna Lou; her father, Police Judge A.R. Swartz; a brother Russell Swartz, Ottumwa, and three sisters, Mrs. Ralph Replogle, Clear Lake, and Mrs. Otho Amelang and Mrs. Hollis Brownlee, both of Ottumwa. She was preceded in death by her mother in 1934 and by a brother Ralph, in 1938. Funeral services will be held at the Johnson funeral chapel, conducted by the Rev. John Blough of the First Congregational church. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn cemetery. The casket will be taken to the home of her father, 425 North Sheridan avenue, at 6 p.m. today and will be retuned to the chapel Saturday noon.
Pallbearers for the funeral of Mrs. Joseph F. Brewer, of 322 Summit street, at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Johnson funeral chapel, will be: Honorary: Mrs. Gordon Traul, Mrs. Arthur Bloome, Mrs. Arthur Delvin, Mrs. Don Davis, Mrs. Floyd Serrell, Miss Mary Clouser, Miss Agnes Blubaugh and Miss Ann Coughlin. Active: Max Lambert, Lloyd Colvin, Lloyd Martin, Hayes Brownlee, Kenneth Miller, and Leo Hahn. Mrs. Brewer, a graduate nurse died early Thursday at her home.
