Mrs. H.K. McVey, 91, widow of a Civil War veteran, died at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday at her home, 429 North Weller street. She was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Griffith and was born March 23, 1851 near Indianapolis, Indiana. Her husband died April 27, 1917. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Myrta Thompson, Ottumwa route 3, and two sons, H.H. McVey, Tama and George G. McVey, Ottumwa. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Johnson funeral chapel, conducted by the Rev. C.R. Reed of the Willard Street Methodist church. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows cemetery near Floris, Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
