Mrs. W.B. Allred, Local Pioneer Dies
One of Wapello county's pioneer women, Mrs. W.B. Allred, 84, died at 7:40 a.m. today at the Treanor nursing home, 301 North Moore street, where she had been a resident for the past two and one-half years. Prior to entering the nursing home, she had resided for 65 years on the old home place five miles south west of Ottumwa. Her husband preceded her in death in January, 1942. Surviving are four sons, Malvern of Olathe, Colorado, Lee, Charles and Everett, all of Ottumwa, A daughter preceded her in death in 1942. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Dollie Longshie of Kansas City, Missouri, and Mrs. Elvira Alderdice of Ottumwa, and a brother, Evan Crane of Albia, Iowa. Other survivors include seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Community funeral chapel in charge of the Rev. E.L. Frost pastor of the Davis Street Christian church. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery. The body will remain at the Community funeral home where friends may call.
