49-Year Veteran of Morrell Co. Dies
Samuel R. Owings, 78, life-long resident of Wapello county died at 11:35 p.m. Thursday at the home of his son, Oval D. Owings, Ottumwa route 6, He retired from John Morrell & Co. four years ago after working for that concern of 49 years. He was born December 20, 1864, in this county. Besides his son, he is survived by three grandchildren, Zola, Vada and Samuel Owings, all of route 6; a stepdaughter, Treva Mark, route 6, and a brother John H. Owings, Ottumwa. He was preceded in death by his wife Katherine in 1920.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Johnson funeral chapel, conducted by the Rev. E.M. Boyer, Burial will be in McIntire cemetery.
