John F. Moore, 71, an engineer for the Milwaukee railroad, died at 6 a.m. today at the St. Joseph hospital. His home was at 921 Albia road.

He was the son of John and Catherine Moore and was born at La Crescent, Minnesota August 15, 1871. He had been a resident of Ottumwa for 40 years.

On August 1, 1896, he became a fireman for the railroad and was promoted to engineer in August of 1901. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, and of St. Patrick's Catholic church.

Survivors include a son, Francis L. Moore, Ottumwa; a daughter Mrs. J.C. Lane, Clinton, and four sisters, W.D. Chase Winslow, Arizona, Mrs. C.A. Croome, Seattle, Washington, Mrs. Will Tierney, Seattle, Washington, and Mrs. G.E. Benjamin, Bellingham, Washington. He was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet, in 1938, and by a son Harold (Buster), in 1932. The body was removed to the Johnson funeral chapel pending arrangements.

Funeral services for John F. Moore, Milwaukee railroad engineer who died Monday morning at the St. Joseph hospital will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday from St. Patrick's Catholic church. The requiem high mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul Albers. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn cemetery. The body was taken to the residence at 921 Albia road this morning and members of St. Patrick's parents will meet there at 8 p.m. Wednesday to recite the rosary.

Funeral services for John F. Moore, Milwaukee railroad engineer who died Monday, will be held at 8 a.m. Thursday from St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

The pallbearers will be Active- Charles Overturf, Robert Huff, John Wisehampt, Lester George, Ross Caster, and J.E. Palmer; Honorary, William Fry, Fred Orvis, Theodore Runzler, Jerry Shea, Irvin Cottrell, T.H. Kemp, Walter Becker and William Exceen.
