Old Resident Of Community Dead
August Erickson, 72, resident of Ottumwa for the past 40 years, died at home of his niece Mrs. John W. Pohlson of 319 North Benton street at 2:35 a.m. today. The son of John and Josephine Erickson, he was born in Sweden December 16, 1869, coming to the United States in 1881 and settling at New Sweden, Iowa. He was a member of the First Lutheran church and is survived by three sisters. Mrs. Anna Linstrom of Ottumwa, Mrs. Christina Johnson of Des Moines and Mrs. Hulda Stromberg of Steele, North Dakota.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the First Lutheran church with the Rev. Malvin Lundeen in charge. Burial will be in Ottumwa cemetery. The casket will remain at the Johnson funeral chapel until noon Saturday, when it will be taken to the church and closed at the beginning of the service.
