S.P. Collingwood Dies At Age Of 82
Simon P. Collingwood, 82, resident of Ottumwa for 45 years, died at 8:15 a.m. today at the Ottumwa hospital. His home was at 810 Wabash avenue. Mr. Collingwood was born June 12, 1860. He served as a railroad engineer in Cleveland, Ohio before coming to Ottumwa. After being employed 28 years at John Morrell & Co. he retired four years ago. He was married to Alice E. Parker June 14, 1881, at Seymour. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary two years ago in the Wabash avenue home they had lived in nearly 20 years. At that time they were honored by the Plymouth Congregational church to which they had belonged ever since coming to Ottumwa. In addition, to his wife, Mr. Collingwood is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Irvin Walker of Davenport; two grandchildren, Donald I. Walker and Jack H. Walker, both in the Army, and two great-grandchildren. The body is at the Johnson funeral chapel awaiting the completion of funeral arrangements.
Funeral services for Simon P. Collingwood of 810 Wabash avenue, who died at the Ottumwa hospital Tuesday at 8:15 a.m. will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Johnson funeral chapel in charge of the Rev. G.W. Crosby of the Plymouth Congregational church, assisted by the Rev. Z. Everett Kellum of the Free Methodist church. Burial will be in Ottumwa cemetery.
