Charles Smith, 74, and a resident of Blakesburg, route 2, died at 2:20 a.m. today at the East Haven home, 820 Pershing avenue. He was born September 19, 1868, in Wapello county the son of George and Mary Smith and had lived in the same home for 68 years, coming to Ottumwa only nine weeks ago. He is survived by four brothers, Walter Smith of Blakesburg route 2, Luther Smith, Lafe Smith and Frank Smith all of Ottumwa.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Johnson funeral chapel. The Rev. A.D. McClure will be in charge of the services and burial will be in Brooks cemetery. His nephews will serve as pallbearers.
