James Stansberry, Church Worker, Dies
James Clayton Stansberry, 62, an employee of the Ballingall hotel for 21 years, died suddenly at 4:40 p.m. Sunday at his home, 246 South Willard street. the son of James N. and Margaret A. Stansberry, he was born April 4, 1880 at Moulton. He had been a resident of Ottumwa for 23 years and was general superintendent of the Sunday School of the Wesley Methodist church for the past 10 years. He was married to Marie Cox, September 27, 1900. Besides his wife he is survived by a son, Max Stansberry, Ottumwa; seven grandchildren; five brothers, Clyde of Ottumwa, Everette of Albia, Clarence of Moulton, Edward of Worthington, Minnesota and Burton of Texas; two sisters Mrs. Essie Anderson, Red Oak and Mrs. Luther Childs, Centerville. Short services will be at the residence at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and at 3 p.m. at the Wesley Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. J.B. Johnson. Burial will in Memorial Lawn cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the board of trustees at the church. The casket will be taken from the Johnson funeral chapel to the residence at 4 p.m. today.
