Mrs. Vera Mae Matthews, 40 life-long resident of Ottumwa died at 8:45 p.m. Friday at the home of her sister. Mrs. H.E. Sutton, 311 North McLean street, after a lingering illness. She was born May 7 1902, in Ottumwa. Besides her sister, Mrs. Sutton she is survived by a son Donald Matthews, Ottumwa, a sister Mrs. Walter Brown, Dubuque, and three brothers, Frank Matthews Ottumwa, Carl Matthews Ottawa, Illinois and Floyd Matthews, Fairfield. She was a member of the First Methodist church.
Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Johnson funeral chapel, conducted by the Rev. John Blough of the First Congregational Church. Burial will be in Ottumwa cemetery.
