Harry Lee Garrett, 70, died at 6 p.m. Monday at his home, 426 Hamilton street. He was the son of Walter and Matilda Garrett and was born in Madison county May 5, 1872. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hattie Garrett and by two sons, Nelson Garrett, and Milo Garrett, both of Des Moines, and by one grandson, Nelson Garrett, Jr. of Des Moines and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a member of Mt. Olive lodge No. 79, A.F. & A.M. and the Low Tribe of Twelve club. A resident of Ottumwa for the past eight years, he had been employed by the Chicago & Northwester railway at Boone for 32 years, retiring in 1930. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday from the Johnson funeral chapel in charge of the Rev. C.R. Reed. Burial will be Columbia cemetery, near Dudley, with Masonic services at the grave.

The funeral of Harry Lee Garrett who died Monday night at his home, 426 Hamilton street, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Johnson funeral chapel. Pallbearers will be Don Kirkpatrick, Norman Scott, Sam Chadwick, Charles Sutton, C.R. White and Glenn Orvis. The Rev. C.R. Reed will conduct the services and burial will be in Columbia cemetery, near Dudley, with Masonic services at the grave. Survivors are Mr. Garrett's wife Hattie; two sons, Nelson an Milo Garrett of Des Moines; a sister Mrs. Clara Burgdhart of Oakland California and a grandson Nelson Garrett Jr. of Des Moines.
