Probe Cause Of Ottmwan's Death
Mrs. Hattie Evans, about 73, years old was found dead in her apartment at 115 1/2 West Second street today. Coroner Gordon Traul said she probably had been dead for two or three days. He saw a possibility that she died from accidental causes. A sample of her blood was sent to the stated laboratory at Iowa City in view of the possibility that she may have inhaled accidentally, fumes from a heater that was burning in the room. The woman was lying across the bed, wrapped in a blanket. She was the widow of William Evans a former member of the Ottumwa police department. She is survived by a brother in Knoxville. Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie Evans who was found dead in her apartment at 115 1/2 West Second street Friday, will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Moroney funeral home, conducted by the Rev. A.D. McClure of the Pentecostal church., Burial will be in Ottumwa cemetery. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Mae Flockhart, Ottumwa; a brother, Edward Dial, Pershing; three nephews and four nieces.
