Mrs. Durinda Moon Dies At Age Of 93
Mrs. Durinda Caroline Moon, 93-year-old former Ottumwan and wife of the late John Moon, died Sunday in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mrs. Moon lived in Ottumwa for 56 years until 1937, when she moved to Tulsa, where she lived with her daughter, Mrs. George Ricker. She had been an invalid since 1937 when she suffered a paralytic stroke. Her husband died in 1930. Mrs. Moon was the daughter of Francis and Ann Riley Martin and spent her early life in Bonaparte, Iowa. She is survived by the following children; John H. Gibbs and Henry C. Moon, both of Ottumwa; Charles A. Gibbs, Galesburg, Illinois; George A. Gibbs, Fairfield; Mrs. H.J. Bremhorst, Ottumwa, and Mrs. Ricker of Tulsa. Twelve grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Lester Jay funeral home in charge of the Rev. H.A. Keck D.D and burial will be in Ottumwa cemetery. Mrs. Moon was a charter member of the local Degree of Honor.
