Stricken While Walking To Town
Robert Franklin Scott, 76, of 310 North McLean street, fell dead at 10:30 a.m. today on South McLean street between Main and Second streets as he was walking to the city. Coroner Gordon Traul announced that death resulted from a heart attack. A retired Milwaukee railroad employee, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sarah Scott, and by three children, Victor L. Scott of Moline, Illinois, Mrs. Nada Pendergraft and Mrs. Neva Liblin, both of Ottumwa. The body has been removed to the Traul funeral home pending the completion of funeral arrangements.
Funeral services for Robert Franklin Scott, 76, who fell dead on South McLean street Monday morning will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Traul's funeral chapel, with the Rev. Brian Adair of Atlanta, Missouri in charge. Burial will be in the Shaul cemetery. Mr. Scott was a retired Milwaukee railroad employee, and had been affiliated with the Masonic order for 51 years. Pallbearers will be from two groups. He was born April 6, 1866 near Milan, Missouri, the son of Barton Stewart Scott and Malinda Donoho Scott. He married Miss Ziphy Elizabeth England, September 5, 1888. She and their three-week-old daughter died an on October 22, 1899, Mr. Scott married Miss Sarah Ila Peters of near Osgood, Missouri. Four children were born to them, one of whom a son, died in infancy. Survivors are Mrs. Scott, a son Victor L. of Moline, Illinois, and daughters Mrs. Neva Liblin and Mrs. Nada Pendergraft of Ottumwa, also two grandchildren, Robert and Joy Ellen Pendergraft; a sister Mrs. Carol Newport of Norborne Missouri and a half brother, James Scott of Wheatland, Kansas.
