Native Of Sweden Dies Here At 88
Mrs. Albertina Thorson, 88, of 113 Oakwood avenue, died at her home at 1:45 a.m. today. She as the daughter of John and Anna Anderson and was born near Gottenberg, Sweden May 24, 1854. She sailed for America in 1883, making her home near Creston for nine years. She then moved to Ottumwa where she resided until her death. She was married to John A. Thorson February 24, 1881 in Sweden . He died June 21, 1929. She was a member of the First Lutheran church. Survivors include two daughters, Ida Thorson and Elamina Anderson, both of Ottumwa; a son J.T. Thorson of Blakesburg, route 1; two grandchildren Majorie and Arthur Thorson of Blakesburg, route 1; a niece Mrs. Carl Sandell of Ottumwa route 2; a nephew, J.H.W. Johnson of Des Moines. Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the First Lutheran church, conducted by the Rev. Malvin M. Lundeen. Burial will be in Ottumwa cemetery. The casket will remain at the Johnson funeral chapel until Thursday noon when it will be taken to the church and closed at the beginning of the service.
