Mrs. Cecil Lewis 21, formerly of Ottumwa and Blakesburg, was drowned in Clear Lake, Iowa, Friday when the canvas boat in which she and her husband were rowing capsized. Mrs. Lewis was the former Dora West, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James West of Blakesburg. She was graduated from the Ottumwa high school in 1938. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis lived in Ottumwa until about a year ago, when they moved to Mason City where he was employed as a meat inspector in a packing plant. The body of Mrs. Lewis is being brought to Ottumwa today. She was born in October, 1920 on a farm near Ash Grove in Davis county. She taught school for two years, before her marriage in May of 1940. Surviving in addition to her husband and her parents are two sisters, Mrs. Inez Sisco and Mrs. LaRae Griggs, and a brother Rex of Blakesburg. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Johnson funeral chapel. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery.
