Funeral Services for Inspector George F. Wittenmyer, 43, Ottumwa fire department officer who died Wednesday of Suffocation in the smoke-choked Woolworth store building fire, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Johnson funeral chapel. The Rev. Malvin H. Lundeen of the First Lutheran church will have charge. Burial will be in Kirkville cemetery with military services at the grave. The casket will be closed at the beginning of services. Active pallbearers all members of the department, will be Asst. Chief Frank Barrier, Basil Fry, Orville Boyles, Henry Cudworth, John Burke and Clarence Oswalt. Honorary pallbearers will be Fire Chief Sam Russell, Mayor David A. Nevin, Safety Commissioner, H.U. Mathews, Improvements Commissioner John F. Maring, William T McElroy and Hal W. Grupe. The city hall will be closed during the services Mayor Nevin announced.
