Mrs. Elizabeth McKinstry Warden, 84, wife of the late George Adams Warden and a resident of Ottumwa for 63 years, died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Allen Kough, North Court road. Mrs. Warden had been in failing health for several years and was confined to her bed for almost three years. She was born in Delavan, Illinois January 12, 1858, the daughter of James Ruston an Sarah Jane McKinstry. On May 13, 1879 she married George Adams Warden, coming to Ottumwa to make her home. Mr. Warden son of the founder of The Ottumwa Courier, died March 9, 1921. During former years Mrs. Warden was active in work of the First Presbyterian church when she affiliated in August 1879. She was a former member of the Elizabeth Ross chapter of the D.A.R. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. F. G Van De Ven, Ottumwa; here daughter Mrs. Kough , and a grandson, Allen M. Kough Jr. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Lester Jay funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Richard Paul Graebel, D.D. Burial will be in the Ottumwa cemetery. The casket will be closed at the beginning of the service.
