Miss Hazel Haller, Local Teacher, Dies
Hazel Haller, widely known Ottumwa grade school teacher whose home was at 950 North Court street, died at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Ottumwa hospital. She was born in Ottumwa April 12, 1892 the daughter of George and Eunice Haller. She was graduated from the Ottumwa high school in 1911 and began teaching that fall, at the Lincoln school in the primary grades. In 1913 she taught at the primary room in the Garfield school, and in 1914 went to the Douglas school were she remained as primary teacher in the years since. Surviving are two brothers, George and Harold, both of Ottumwa. Miss Haller was a member of the Ottumwa chapter No. 112 O.E.S. and of the Mizpah circle of King's Daughters, and of the First Baptist church. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Lester Jay funeral home, in charge of the Rev. John Estes. Burial well be in the Ottumwa cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gene Swenson, Clarence Young, Clarence Johnston, Walter McLain, R.O. Wright and Paul Troger.
