Isaiah Timmins, Dies Early Today
Native Of England Was Retired Railroader
Isaiah Timmins, 80-year-old retired railroader, died today at 9:40 a.m. at his home 111 Fairview avenue. He was born in England, January 27, 1860, he started his apprenticeship as a spring (?) at the age of 14 years. He was married to Miss Maria (?) October 30, 1881 at Wistrich Staffordshire, England. Mr. and Mrs. Timmins came to the United States in 1888 lived in Pennsylvania and Illinois in 1903, when they came to Ottumwa. He entered the care department of the Milwaukee road in 1912, retiring from that job in February 1928. He was a member of the West End Presbyterian Church and the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen of America. Surviving are two daughters, Miss Anna Timmins of Ottumwa and Mrs. F.H. Rutledge of Coon Rapids; sons Samuel C. Timmins of Billings, Montana Isaiah and Ernest of Ottumwa; two granddaughters. Two grandsons and two great-grandsons. His wife and son preceded him in death. Service for Isaiah a retired railroader who died Wednesday at his home, 111 Fairview Avenue, will be held Friday at 3 p.m. in the home and at 3:30 p.m. at the West End Presbyterian church, conducted by the Rev. B. Johnson of the Wesley Methodist church. Burial will be in the Shaul cemetery. Obit cut off at this point.
