Sister Mary Pius, Veteran Teacher, Dies
Taught In Southern Iowa 47 Years

Sister Mary Pius, 66, died suddenly at Ottumwa Heights. She had been ill only two days. Born Louise Oppice, the daughter of Sylvester and Louise Arado Oppice, her home in early life was at Burlington. She entered the convent in 1893, and was a teacher for 47 years. She taught in high schools at Ft. Madison, Marshalltown, Neola, Ottumwa and Georgetown. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. George Boyer of St. Louis and Mrs. Mayme Pace of Venice, Illinois and several nieces and nephews., Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. at Ottumwa Heights academy, with the burial in Mt. Olive cemetery on the academy grounds.
