Mrs. Kathryn M. Small, 52, wife of Frank L. Small, died suddenly at her home, 314 North Birch street, at 8:40 p.m. Saturday. The daughter of Thomas and Lena Shaw, she was born at Alexis, Illinois, February 25, 1889. She had been a resident of Ottumwa for the past eight years. She was a member of the Presbyterian church and the ladies auxillary, chapter six, Burlington Veterans' association. She was also a member of the Eagles Ladies' club. She married Frank L. Small February 12, 1913, at Alexis. He survives her. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Frances Walker of Ottumwa and Mrs. Lena Mae Chamber of Creston; a grandson, Harry Szajek of Altoona, Illinois; three sisters, Lucille Shaw of Denver, Mrs. Elizabeth Brunner and Mrs. Evelyn McMullen, both of Bloomfield, Colorado; three brothers, Ralph Shaw, Little York, Illinois, Victor Shaw, Creston and Robert Shaw, Denver. She was preceded in death by a son, John in 1916, and two daughters Maxine Szajek in 1941 and Naomi in infancy, and by a brother, Harry. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday from the Johnson funeral chapel, conducted by the Rev. Richard Paul Grabel of the First Presbyterian church. Burial will be in Norwood cemetery, near Alexis, Illinois. Pallbearers will be T.M. Mowrey W.O. Steen, A.C. Leafgren, D.L. Stark, H.J. Barber and J.D. Vaughan.
