Sister Philomene Dies; Was Teacher
Sister Philomene, a member of the convent had taught for several years in the Georgetown high school west of Albia and who taught at St. Mary's school last fall, died at the St. Joseph hospital at 11 p.m. Monday. She had been ill two months. She was the daughter of Leopoldina and Bernard Dietmeier, born in Walla Walla, Washington, April 8, 1880. She entered the convent April 23, 1897. She had taught at Ft. Madison, Marshalltown, and Dunlap, in addition to Georgetown and Ottumwa. Surviving are a sister; Mrs. Paul B. Erredge, of St. Paul, Minnesota and two brothers. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the chapel at Ottumwa Heights Academy. Burial will be in the Mt. Olive cemetery on the academy grounds.
