Hangs Self With Ropes Made Of Sacks
County coroner Gordon Traul today pronounced as suicide the death of George W. Glenn his employer, found the body dangling on the end of a rope made of grain sacks upon his return from Ottumwa. A note telling of suicide intentions was found among Boyd's belongings, the coroner said. Boyd had been working on the farm eight weeks, according to Traul and Sheriff Mike Mier who investigated the case. The man had been employed at odd jobs for the past few years included work near Bloomfield and Davenport. He was born June 11, 1895, in Jefferson County, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Boyd, now living in Fairfield. Besides his parents he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Jessie Duncan, Ottumwa, and a brother John Boyd, Jr. Newton, Missouri. The body was removed to the Traul funeral home pending arrangements.
