Mrs. Gertrude C. Shea, 70, above, wife of William Shea of Blakesburg, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Pat Maloney, 316 North Jefferson street, at 4 p.m. Thursday. She was the daughter of Benedict and Anna Fritz, born at Blakesburg February 14, 1871, where she lived all her life. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic church in Ottumwa. Mr. and Mrs. Shea were married May 6, 1891, at Blakesburg. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last year. Her husband, retired system superintendent of track maintenance for the Milwaukee railroad, survives her. Also surviving are a son, John B. Shea of Blakesburg, a daughter, Mrs. Edna Maloney of Ottumwa; a granddaughter, Patricia Alice Shea of Blakesburg; a brother, Frank Fritz of Blakesburg. She was preceded in death by a daughter Alice, January 13, 1939, and three brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday from the St. Mary's Catholic church, where a requiem high mass will be celebrated by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. M. Walsh V.F. Burial will be in the Blakesburg cemetery. The casket will be taken from the Johnson funeral chapel to the residence of Mrs. Maloney this afternoon and will remain there until Saturday morning. Pallbearers will be Jacob and George Huber, Ernest Johnson, Norine Cloyd, Max Berry and John Torrence.
