Native Of County Dies At Age Of 86
James C. Phillips, 86, lifelong resident of Wapello county, died at 10:50 a.m. today at his home in Green Township near Cooper Bend school, 7 1/2 miles southwest of Ottumwa. The son of George and Sarah Phillips he was born October 7, 1855 in Green Township, near where he had lived for many years. He is survived by his wife Lovie, five sons, Howard, Jesse, Harold, John and Glen, all of Ottumwa, and two daughters, Mrs. Alice Belles of Centerville and Mrs. Olive Dalbey of Ottumwa. Eight grandchildren also survive. The body is at the Johnson funeral chapel awaiting the completion of funeral arrangements.
